Drifella III #1305 (Detail of price chart) (2025) is a framed detail from a single room in Evil Biscuit’s Drifella III in which the painted surface absorbs the on-chain market it lives inside.
Close looking
A heavy navy-blue baroque frame, glossy and screw-cornered, surrounds a deep-set picture; the frame’s wet, melting modelling looks rendered, not photographed. Inside the frame, the painted ground splits into competing scenes. A floating Pokémon-style island — Cloud City as a flat, lit disc of land hanging above a sky of pinks and blues — occupies the centre of the composition, with a brilliant sunburst at its horizon. Below the island, a wooden lattice rises like a churchyard fence, and on each crossbar a small painted Mifella-cousin character stands at attention: blue, pink, red. Below them, a row of Tamagotchi-style egg-pets sits like a candy-bar predella. To the upper left a kitchen knife floats vertically, blade catching a hard highlight; to the upper right a PNG-stacked cartoon Poliwhirl reaches in from off-canvas, half-cut. Underneath everything a faint price chart — green and red bars — runs horizontally as a baseline that the figures stand on. The palette holds together by contrast alone: high-saturation pinks and blues at the island, the cool dark navy of the frame, the red-green of the chart bars at the bottom. Reads first: the floating island and the knife, two icons of weight in tension. Reads last: the chart, which only resolves once the eye has accepted that this is a Drifella III room performing its own market — a Mifella-cousin lattice stacked above the literal price-graph as the room’s compositional spine.
